GET TO KNOW LISA

With six children and a steadfast commitment to conservative values, I am dedicated to prioritizing education and fiscal responsibility for a brighter future for all members of our community. As a parent and a citizen, I understand the critical role education plays in shaping our society and preparing our children for success. I firmly believe in the importance of instilling strong values of hard work, personal responsibility, and integrity in our youth. Moreover, I am deeply committed to fiscal responsibility, recognizing that sound financial management is essential for the prosperity and well-being of our community both now and in the future. By upholding these principles, I am confident that we can create a thriving environment where individuals and families can flourish.

We need policies that uphold our core values while fostering respectful dialogue and collaboration. Through open communication and a willingness to listen and find common ground, we can find innovative solutions that benefit all members of our community.

Born to Gordon and Emma Jean

I feel very fortunate to have grown up in a family where education, patriotism, and civic engagement are valued. One of my mom’s goals was to teach us to disagree agreeably. I love a good discussion and have curiosity and interest in different points of view. I am willing to change my mind when there is new information that warrants it.

Cirby Elementary

I started kindergarten at Cirby Elementary School in Roseville, California in 1975. I remember when Prop 13 passed in 1978. As a kid, I hated it. After three years of several amazing field trips per year and riding the bus to and from school, suddenly I had to walk. And each class had only one field trip a year. As an adult, I see the compassion and wisdom in making sure that people don’t lose their home because of exorbitant property taxes.

Jordan School District as Student

My family moved to Utah during my sixth grade year. My dad taught math at Hillcrest then at West Jordan High School. I finished sixth grade at Bingham Middle School and started seventh grade at West Jordan Middle. I graduated from West Jordan High School. I learned math, French, Latin, physics, and the three branches of government. I had outstanding, legendary teachers, including my dad.

BYU

After high school I moved in with my sister’s family and attended BYU. I babysat my sister’s three, then four kids while she attended BYU. I saw my sister’s drive for education and love of learning triumph over financial and housing struggles. It was inspiring. Ultimately I graduated with a BA in Spanish and a minor in math. Then I joined the Utah Army National Guard.

Veteran + Veteran

My husband, Sam Dean, and I are veterans. We met at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. We were both studying Arabic. I finished my enlistment two weeks before our third child was born. Sam has served three, year-long deployments and is still in the Guard. He is now a sergeant first class, and we have six kids. I am grateful for my time in the military and thankful for those who sacrifice so much to maintain peace.

Community Engagement

With six years as a secondary math aide in Jordan School District, membership in Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation Board, and involvement in school community councils, I've built a strong foundation in community service. Elected to Jordan School District Board of Education in November 2022, I'm now running for Utah House of Representatives, driven by a passion for representing District 39 and listening to its residents.
